AI-Accelerated UI Build

An exploration of how generative AI tools can meaningfully speed up frontend work, without sacrificing code quality or control over the final result.

What I did

• Set up a local AI stack (LM Studio, Open WebUI, Ollama) to keep iteration fast and data private
• Built a ReAct-agent server exposing OpenAI-compatible endpoints, so local models could be used directly inside existing editor tooling
• Used AI assistance for rapid prototyping of complex UI interactions, then reviewed and refined every output as a senior engineer would
• Combined multiple AI assistants (local models plus hosted assistants) for different stages of the workflow: exploration, implementation, and review

Result

Prototyping cycles for tricky UI challenges shrank considerably, while code quality stayed high because every AI-generated suggestion went through the same review discipline as hand-written code.
